Hildie the Brave is a playable hero and the main protagonist of Bonfire. She's on an ongoing, hopeless quest to defeat the Faceless Overlord of the Mournfolk.
Hildie, as the main protagonist, never leaves the party.

Ally Ability | Protect This ability places the Protect buff on the user, making them take hits in stead of the target ally. Area attacks will still hit the protected unit however. The buff also raises the Armor stat. Protect does not stack, and if the ability is used on another ally while it's still in effect, the user will switch to protecting the new ally. |

Self Ability | Purge This ability removes all debuffs from the user and heals them. The more debuffs are removed, the stronger the healing effect, although the ability still restores some health even if no effects were removed. |

Strategy[]
The Brave can soak a lot of damage, especially when enjoying the Armor boost due to protecting, and will often take only the minimum 5 damage from weaker attacks. The Protect ability is a good way to keep heroes with low Armor alive, and is a cornerstone of many strategies.
Hildie can also serve as an emergency healer thanks to her Bandage ability rune.
Applying burn through Hero Blade may be used to increase future damage done to the target, which works especially well with powerful attacks, like Blastmancer's fully charged Blast. Pyra can also use the burn debuff to proc her Detonator rune ability.
Inspirations[]
Zivko's Attitude: Hildie's most likely cause of death is maximum Health reduction due to taking more hits than other characters, so more opportunities for a Motivation Up refill will extend her survivability. She can also gain a large amount of Motivation Points by taking damage under Protect. The buff extension allows her to protect allies for longer, giving her more time to attack.
Erzsi's Majesty: Hildie's most likely cause of death is maximum Health reduction due to taking more hits than other characters, so Majesty's health regeneration will extend her survivability, especially with other healers like Ephrem or Erzsi herself. The Shambler summon, though weak given Hildie's low Special, aids in tanking by being a potential target for enemy attacks, giving Hildie more room to breathe.
