Strategy[]
As Summoners, Necros should be made priority targets. Damage-over-time effects are particularly effective at counteracting the healing from Mass Drain, so Zhu and Nadia will do well against this enemy. In a pinch, Foul Wind is also effective, especially as it will poison the Necro's minions as well.
Like all enemies with Dark Feast, Necros can be tricked to use it in a way that benefits the player, like for example, killing a protected enemy or finishing off a dangerous one. They tend to use Dark Feast only when they themselves are damaged, and only on very weak targets. If both the Necro and its minions are injured, its minions may be tempted into killing the Necro with Dark Feast, saving you a lot of trouble.
As Mass Drain is an area attack, protective abilities such as Hildie's Protect and Ephrem's Sanctuary will be ineffective against it. You may still wish to use these abilities to protect from the Necro's minions, but in most cases heroes should focus on offense.
Zhu is useful for wearing down the Necro's minions while other heroes focus on the Necro itself. Cauterize is also a useful ability for its damage-over-time effect.
Having your own vampiric attacker in the form of Erzsie can be useful. The Thrall effect will not only counteract the Necro's healing but its damage as well, allowing you to survive longer. You can also rob the Necro of chances to drain your heroes by delaying its turn with Hypnotize.
It is recommended to avoid summoning your own minions against Necros, as they will provide an additional target for Mass Drain and allow the Necro to recover more health.
